I'll be out in my stand early with my SBH Stalker. Hopefully a booner will pass by.

Good luck to other NY hunters.

Unfortunately i went the opposite way and got one with the shotgun opening day. I had nice doe in the scope of the 308 encore at 300 yds but it was right after i got ths one with shotgun and just cldnt be confident enough on getting my hands steadied so decided to not risk the shot

Nytracker good for you. This is my third season using a 480 Super RedHawk ONLY.
This is the 4th day of season here in Missouri.
I have had slickheads by my stand every day. Monday evening I finally had a couple nice bucks come by. One with a doe came by on the other side of the creek from me at about 65 yards. I could see him well enough twice to see he was a keeper, but just too brushy for a shot.
I had a second buck hit the water hole while the first buck was still close by. It would have been a 100 yard shot, but I did not see him until he started to head off up hill. Not enough time for a shot.

This morning. I am waiting on a call so I am not hunting.
First thing I go to the kitchen sink to get a glass of water about daylight. I have a doe and fawn just over the fence. The doe sees me in the window.
Then the wife spots 3 down by her stand in the field.
All added up we saw around 12 deer from the house this morning before 8 AM. No horns however.
Yesterday we had 4 go down the gravel road beside the house just after daylight.
Hoping a nice buck will come looking for all the does.

Bob

Well, I woke up late and got to my stand about 10 minutes before shooting hours. It was windy so I picked my stand looking over the swap and flag grass. I heard something in the swap out in front of me but not where I could SSE. Thinking it was a buck on a doe. I grunted a few times and waited. Nothing. About an hour in I looked right then back left as this one came around the corner facing me. I had my encore in my hand so I brought it up against the sling and held center mass. Shot and deer did nothing, he looked around but stood there. I broke the gun open but could not grip the case to remove it! Seemed like I tried forever. So I let the encore hang and grabbed the revolver. I put a fast fire iii on this one and felt good to 25 yards with it. He picked his head up again so I put it center mass and shot. This time he hunched up and jumped into the flag. I could see his head and neck so I put the dot o e where his shoulder would be and shot until I could not see him again. Ended up shooting four rounds out of the revolver. I gave it a few minutes then got down and started looking. I found the miss from the encore. Then walked into the flag and loomed down each trail. I go to where I though he was last and found him about five yards from there dead. Looks like only this first shot from the 357 hit him. Went in the top of the heart. I know it was luck to hit that and I'm glad it did with the other shots missing completely. I might have shot them double actiin , not sure. But I am thrilled my biggest buck to date

Little late but here goes. Opening day ... had hair soup for supper . Had a doe come sneaking through behind me 30 yds.Turned around ,shooting between the split trunk hemlock my stand is in I couldnt get steady. Switched to right hand leaning left shoulder agains tree for support. She slipped into a small opening and i sent a shot down range .. She jumped as if hit... ran 20 yds and stood in a thicket before sneaking off .Waited 20 minutes and checked for blood, only finding long white belly hair no skin or blood... looking around I find a branch clipped off about 5 yds from where she was standing...Hair soup doesnt have much taste and is a little hard to swallow.Tuesday evening same stand, I hear deer sneaking up from the bottom following the rock wall bordering my property...I cock the hammer on my sbhh and watch as a mature doe slips into my shooting lane .47 yds I let it bark and the doe blows up into the air crashing sideways rolling over gets up staggers off the property and down the hill . Contacted property owner let him know I would be doing a recovery .Too late to track and not knowing for sure on the hit ,hair and blood found at the shot , I opted to recover in the morning.Found first revolver deer not 50 yds from the shot under a fallen tree.Shot entered on second rib exited on oppisit sholder hitting both lungs and top of heart. I dont have picks .. Never thought to take them.Thursday I hunted the morning passing on a small 4 pt and 3 small doe's .While walking out to meet my wife for lunch at around 10:30 I had a huge doe come sneaking along on a path that would take acrossed the logging road Iwas walking . I had my shooting sticks so I rested my sbhh on the shooting sticks cocked the hammer and waited for her to enter the road way . Shot her on the shoulder at 20 yds as she stepped into the roadway, bang flop drt.Sorry still never thought to take pics .While its a big thrill to kill with the revolver I am a meat hunter and I process my own deer. Not having a cooler my biggest concern is dressing deer as soon as possable and get them in the freezer .I will try to remember to take pics before I break out the knife next time .

Thanks to all the guys on the board for the help and info.

congrats Tyler nice buck.

Thanks. That's cool to shoot two with the revolver. I'm gearing up to go out this afternoon. Thinking of taking the 44 tonight. Darn windy here but we have snow on the ground. Might hit the ground blind.
