I know there are other Alaskans on here but I'll get the ball rolling.
Live in Kenai, moved here from Oregon in '88, primarily chase moose & black bear, primary gun is a 7.5" Ruger SRH in 480 with a 30mm Ultradot.
Love hunting with the handgun & but have never killed a big animal with one (moose with rifle & longbow, deer with rifle & trad black powder). Maybe this year!

I have some family in Wasilla, Anchorage, and in Dillingham, but I don't think any of them hunt with handguns.

New member here from Alaska as well. I mostly bowhunt, but I have a Ruger Redhawk 5" in 454 casull and a Thompson contender in .223 and .358 JDJ and I am looking forward to taking a blackbear, griz, moose and caribou with it. I have taken each of those with my bow since first being stationed here in 2006. I am retiring from the military this year so the future will hopefully hold some great opportunities.

Been here my whole life 40yrs of it. Just got back into handgun hunting. Live out in the country so I get to go out and shoot anytime I want. Got my sons into wheel guns and there hooked.

Lived here in Fairbanks for 24 of the last thirty years. Air Force first brought me to Alaska and liked it so much that I came back twice more. I'm retired up here now and wouldn't live anywhere else. As for handgun hunting, only have taken small game so far. I have a good collection of big bore wheelguns and I see possibilities now that I have the time.

Moved to Kodiak first in 1985 right out of high school. Left a year later but have been back and forth several times since. Been in Alaska this last time since 2009, between Cooper Landing, Kenai and Talkeetna. Been on the site here for quite a while and greatly admire you guys that have been so successful hunting with handguns, but have yet to blood my own. I keep trying, and hope that this is the year.

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

Have been busy with family last several years, so hunting has been pretty limited (and I don't stop by here very often). Starting hunting with a handgun as a result of thrashing my rifle on a mountain goat hunt. Thought there had to be a an easier way. I have since taken moose, musk ox, black bear, blacktail deer and caribou with my TC Contender - usually hunt with my .309 or .375 JDJ, or ,45-70. Have a multitude of barrels from .17 HeBee to the .45-70. Usually carry my Ruger .45LC SS Bisley with some 320 gr. bearbusters as last resort bear protection (when I can stick the barrel in its mouth or ear). Looking forward to my son getting old enough to tag along with me.
