is there such a thing? Or is this all part of that NFA thing? I know all about the rifle vs pistol stuff with t/c. Just not with regards to shotguns.

If the barrel is at least 18" long, and the overall length of the gun including stock is at leaast 26", then yes.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

But it has to be 18" even if it is a pistol frame?

Yep. Unless you apply and pay for "permission"

Yes it is still considered a shotgun and BATF REGS SAY 18 INCH BARREL AND 26 or 26 1/2 OVER ALL LENGTH .I would rather have it a touch long than short, to be on the safe side. Muzzle loading barrels don't have that restriction YET.

Mike, the barrel actually has to be 21.5" long to meet the 26" overall length.

If you install screw in choke tubes make sure it meets B.A.T.F. regs WITHOUT the choke tubes installed . I'm pretty sure it will be considered to short if you measure to the end of a removable choke tube.

As long as the barrel is at least 18" long and the overall length is 26" long it's legal. The removable choke is no different than the removable pistol grip. As long as it's configured properly with legal intent.
