aka
"Crimson Patches In The Snow"
which is the name of an article I wrote that was published in a major Predator Hunting Magazine some years ago.
Today it emulated this red fox that I called in and dumped a 125 grain Muzzy three blade broadhead through it's chest with my Barnett crossbow (aptly named "Predator.")
I am not prejudiced as to hunting methods and I hunt with them all as I am a HUNTER, and I have professed that exact fact many times in these pages as well as others.

Can't believe you shot that thing in the middle of him trying to make a snow angel. It looks like he was just getting started!

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Congratulations. I too hunt and shoot with all guns and a crossbow. It is the muzzleloader season in Indiana. Lord willing, Friday my Encore .50 caliber rifle will draw blood.

I was going to make the snow angel comment last night but sleep almost claimed me before I hit submit on the post! Gregg - congrats again; predator hunting in the snow...a rarity in my neck of the woods, that's for sure!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS! Can't believe you shot that thing in the middle of him trying to make a snow angel. It looks like he was just getting started!

GS
Glenn and SChunter, The "snow angel" comments have not gone unnoticed and are appreciated!
The ragged truth of the matter is that the actual kill scene was exactly as the title says:
"BLOOD In The Snow."
AKA:
It was not a pretty sight.
And the white snow magnifies the red... Well...OK if you know then you know; if U don't then trust me...
Any of you that have made bow kills (or broadhead kills...)
then you definitely know what I mean...
So I picked the fox up with all due respect and placed him in a different area of more or less pure white snow for the photo.
Best to U Guys,
Gregg

I killed a coyote a few years ago with my bow and the sharp broadhead made an incredible mess when it exited the flank. Take the hide off and there isn't much body to shoot at on a fox. Good shot!!!!!!!!!!!!

He actually couldn't figure out what was going on so he sat on his haunches and stared me down at about 21 yards so I had a pretty good size vital area.
