Welcome, Greg. Many of us like the Ultra Dot. This is a 1" version, mounted on a 629, not a SRH, but you get the idea. Some like the 30 mm versions, but I just prefer the more compact 1" type. This one has been continuously mounted on this gun since 1990.

You are going to get a lot of recommendations for UltraDot sights. They have been proven on revolvers far more abusive than the 454.

I prefer the larger viewing area of the 30mm sights over the 1" versions. So my nod would go to the UltraDot 30.

If you still have the new in the bag rings from your SRH, Ruger is normally pretty good about exchanging the 25mm rings for the 30mm ones, normally free of charge.

Hi Greg.
My 480 SRH wears an Ultradot in 30mm. I love it & would buy another in a heart beat.

Another vote for the 30 MM Ultradot! I have one on both my 454 and 480 SRHs. IMHO, they are great hunting sights! An Ultradot equipped Super Redhawk makes for a GREAT hunting handgun IMHO.

And they are plenty accurate too!

Welcome to the site, Greg!

Ultradot all the way. I have been abusing them for years and they just keep coming back for more.

Here is an Ultradot 30 in Ruger 30mm rings mounted on what used to be an SRH in .454 (now .500 Linebaugh).

Greg Bayes,
I have a Sight Mark Ultra Shot Reflex sight, as I prefer the holographic style sight.

I've had it on my .44 Mag. Ruger Super Redhawk, since day one and love its' performance. 5 light intensity settings and 4 different reticle patterns make it very versatile.

Because I don't know... Are these ultra dot sights non-magnifiers? Meaning not 2x, 4x etc. Thanks.

Yes.

Another vote for the Ultradot. I added one this past season for my SBHH. In a few weeks, I'll be adding on to my 629 as well. The scopes will be on different revolvers, for longer range work.

l just got a 629 Hunter from the Performance Center...lt came with a 4MOA red-dot...Lepers... $40 site on a $1200 gun was a bit cheap of S&W l think..But it has stayed zeroed after 200rds..l like the integral Weaver rib of the barrel making it so clean and neat..After Christmas l plan on getting an Aimpoint Micro... My 67 year old eyes welcomed the red-dot...

For the money, the UltraDot is hard to beat.

If you want something a bit smaller and you don't care to spend the extra coin, the Aimpoint Micro will serve you well.

41M,

That is a good looking "smiff". Your optics rib is very clean and adds nicely to the lines of the gun. As does the Aimpoint.
