Would anyone want to share there light and medium loads for practicing. I shoot mostly cast bullets. I have 255 gr. keith, 270gr keith, and 300gr gas check. For powders I have HS-6, Unique, and Titegroup.

Try 12-14gr of unique under 300 gr cast.

Dhom,
If you visit the FA webpage, their reloading data is at the bottom, not to the left. And Hodgdon's has much of this on their webpage. Just want to give you a few sources with actual pressure data.
With that said, with Tightgroup I am right around 10 grains for weights up to 300 grains. Velocity in my 4 3/4 FA is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-1100 fps for those weight bullets. Very easy to shoot. When using HS-6, it is more like 15-16 grains to get the same velocity as the TG loads. I find the Hs-6 is a smidge cleaner than the TG loads.
Not knowing what you consider light and medium, but if your targeted velocity is at the upper ends with those 3 fast powders, be careful if trying to push. They can become a little erratic when moving from light to medium. HS-6 is much better than TG when moving into the medium pressure range, imho.

Thanks guys! My velocity range would likely be 900 fps to 1200 fps for these practice loads. I have shot a lot of full power loads and burned up a lot of H110 and W296. Actually my lighter load has been 28 gr of IMR4227 with a 300 gr GC. I shoot a lot and that load still burns a lot of powder so, I was looking for loads such as you guys have mentioned. I will check FA website also, thanks.

The lightest load I've found that still gives top accuracy is 26 grains of 4227 with a 300 grain RCBS SWCGC. This is also a great deer load if you shoot for the shoulder.
I would love to find a really accurate range load with the 270 RCBS-SAA going about 1100 fps with minimal leading. Still working on it. Please share if you find one.

300 gr.WFN with 26.2 grs of H110,...the book shows it doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1360 f.p.s. so its probably a little more than you want.

Oscar.....just the other day I tried the 270 SAA bullet with 11 gr Unique and a standard primer in an FA83 7.5" and at 25 yds it shot quite well. It would take more testing at longer distances but, I think it would suite your velocity range. It seems my FA 83 shoots everything pretty well, just saying.

Thanks dhom, I recently tried 10.5 of Unique with the 270 SAA and got very good accuracy (though not as good as the other load I mentioned). My problem was moderate leading. The bullets are perfectly fitted to the throats and well lubed. Maybe a heavier charge is needed. I think I'll try HS-6 as well.

10.5-11 grains of W231 or Unique with the 255-260 cast slugs did about 1140 from my 7.5" gun and was boringly accurate. Will handle most chores and recoils like a 22 from the big Model 83. My upper end loads are Freedom Arms loads so I'd go look at their data, pay attention to primer and brass used in their testing and then work up your load in your gun as usual. My gun with low end up to top end loads will print groups that will embarrass rifle shooters at 100-150 yards. It shoots like a REALLY nice rifle

Oscar,,,,,,Do you have control over the hardness of the bullet. If so, 15 BHN should serve you well.
