Thanks for all of the advice on FFFG, but I e-mailed CVA for their thoughts.

Billy,

NO! The 3F powder is too fine and will burn too fast possibly causing too high a pressure. This possible higher pressure could cause the pistol to catastrophic failure of the pistol and injury to you.

They are covering their ass-ets. Can't say I blame them.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Just try the Blackhorn 209... After you try it, I'll bet it will be the ONLY powder you ever shoot in your inlines.

Mister, why do you carry a 45? "Because Sam Colt don't make a 46."

I use 2 IMR White Hots in my CVA. Shoots great. Minimal mess.

hitman,
I've read that the recoil can be a little stiff with the White hots.
What bullet are you using ?

All the manufactures of Black Powder Handguns(Pistols and Percussion Revolvers, with exception to the (Ruger Old Army)
Are worried about liability that some knucklehead may use smokeless powder in them and cause a legal problem so they put the many warnings out there. Your Optima Pistol is a powerful strong work house that will bring home the Big game, especially with my Universal Bullets see video bellow with noted author Hovey Smith testing it.
