For those interested in hog hunting at Wilderness this spring I talked to Alan and the month of April is wide open.

base 3 day hunt with one hog trophy or any hog for that matter is 725.00 plus processing which is by the pound.

additional hogs run from 225.00 for a feral 200lbs and down to 580.00 for a a trophy russian.

We always have a blast up there. reflex264

chops from one of our hog kills. Beyond good!

I would really like to go there sometime, even though another hog is not on my wish list of things to hunt.

I usualy rotate guns. Planning on my .44 5.5" Bisley, My .460 Rowland and probably my .45 Blackhawk. Matt is planning on his Seville .44 Mag, Gallagher .45 Stretch, Alan Harton old model .357 converted to .44 Special and maybe his #5. I may carry some more if the mood strikes. Never can tell. reflex264

I hope you all have a good time, but not tooooo good....That always hurts the next morning.

Those chops were from Matt's 328lbs sow he killed on the last trip. They were out of this world!

I have a good question. I have shot a lot of feral boar in Florida and noticed that when they get more than 150 lbs in weight the meat is like shoe leather. What is the difference between those boar and what you shoot at the Wilderness lodge? Thanks

We intentionaly try to kill sows. I killed a 400lbs razorback sow that was good eating. Matts 328lbs feral sow was good. Hard to say. I know Mr. David Oaks told me if I wanted to eat them shoot sows. He said a boar that was over 225lbs usualy wasn't good to eat. reflex264

Those chops were awsome! Unfortunately we are going to have wait a few months to rescedule a "chop" round up. The sows we have killed are among the best eating wild game I have ever had. reflex264
