Got the antelope back and in the office this week. I think it turned out really nice. Can't wait to go again

That looks nice! Great looking buck!
I really like that style of shoulder mount better than the old ones that look like the head is just "growing" from the wall.
Mister, why do you carry a 45? "Because Sam Colt don't make a 46."

Thanks guys. He doesn't look exactly like he did in the field but its pretty anyway. He had a much more prominent nose like a deer that someone would describe as a "roman" nose and his neck was a lot larger compared to the mount. I guess they didn't take measurements on that stuff before they took it apart. I know what to ask for next time I guess. Wes, I agree, I much more prefer this style to the standard look straight ahead antelope mounts that I see. The taxidermist has a nice mount on the back of it. Its a plate that screws to the wall with a piece of steel square tubing about 1/2" ID welded to it. The solid piece of square steel stock is attached to the antelope so its a very easy slide it on the wall attachment. It doesn't allow it to twist or turn once on the wall. I thought it was a neat way of doing it that I haven't seen before. You can see the difference in the nose and neck in this picture when I dropped him off at the shop

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Thanks guys. I went and picked him up again yesterday from the scorer. The taxidermist was supposed to have him scored two months ago before the mount was done. After deductions etc, he finished out at 74. The scorer told me I lost about 1/2" on each side total length because he couldn't get to the bottom of the horns and then of course , that changes the circumference locations but it wouldn't have made a big difference. It's still a pretty good one for SW Kansas. We just don't have tons of them here so I was pleased to luck into this one about the time we had given up and I was going to head back home. Took six years to draw the tag because they only give 10 out in this area but I'm going to start applying again next month

For the amount of antelope in Kansas I would say you took one heck of a nice animal....
