Just went to the LGS and layed away a stainless GP 100 4" barreled 357. I'm happier than a coon in the corn field with the dogs tied up!!!

Not as happy as you'll be when you pick it up! I love my GeeP

Rod, too.

I had one years ago and traded like a idiot!! Any suggestions on factory loads for it? I'll mostly use it for carry when camping and fishing but an occasional deer or bear wouldn't be out of the question either.

I'll probably start out with the BB 180 gr. hard cast.

Couldn't agree more! A .357 and bears can be iffy with softpoints depending on your situation, a heavy hard cast bullet is the only way to go with bears.

For deer you can't go wrong with something like a 158gr xtp. Congrats on the new toy!

Choot em!

Yea I was looking at the xtp's or the 140 gr. Barnes. I've had really good luck with their rifle bullets.

Stay with 140 grainers in the 4". Chances of having to dispatch a killer grizz is pretty damn slim. Measure the length of the cylinder to ensure bullets will fit in the gun. Heavy crimp because bullets move forward and have locked up my 101. That really sucks when you are in the field.

The chances of killing a killer grizz in WV are even slimmer. LOL It would more likely be a Blacky. To be honest I'm more concerened with two legged predators. Drugs are pretty bad in this area and you never know what they're up too or what you'll walk up on.Thanks for the info though. I don't reload so they will be the Barnes loads or BB. Thanks again.

Nice purchase, I don't have a GP but I qualified with one in basic training for work and ended up shooting the highest score out of my glass with it, really liked how it shot.

The cheap federal 158gr JSP is a really nice load. I always felt they were accurate and testing shows they are a pretty tough bullet.

I want one a 4" now if I only have the money.

Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a 12 pound sledgehammer!

Todd,
I believe you will be quite happy with your GP100, as you know I purchased my 6" GP recently for hunting and am very happy with it. I like the GP so much I am actually thinking about purchasing either a 3" or 4" for when I am at work in plain clothes. I really love everything about these Rugers!!

Yahoo. Hope a lack of ammo doesn't slow you down. Pics, pics, pics.
