The HSUS is trying to ban all baiting, use of hounds and trapping when it comes to bear hunting in Maine. For $10.00 you can help Maine beat HSUS and maybe win a bear hunt. I'm not from Maine but would like to hunt there one day. http://www.sportsmansallianceofmaine.org/raffle.html

We, in Illinois when everyone else had concealed carry had to buck city hall by ourselves, not sayin Maine should have to do this by themselves but, that's the way most things get done. From the inside. Best of luck with this. Steve

i shouldnt under estimate em. they are a bunch of moon bats from north boston (portland) and will bring it up again and again till the voters get tired of it and pass the damn thing to shut em up. or cars with out of state tags giving rides to " maine" voters. it would be nice to just let if&w make the regs. but that could be packed with a bunch of lib. do gooders and then we would have no recourse. sorry just had to let off a little steam

Bluecow,
I know what you mean. I'm not even from Maine and it pisses me off! I've been following it in the new for several months now and it just gets my blood pressure up. I'll be there this fall to hunt bear; before the November vote. I sure hope it's not my last one.

Kim, I feel the same way. Here in Michigan we held our first wolf hunt last fall and now the HSUS is in Michigan trying to put a stop to that. The biologist say there are over 600 wolves in Michigan now and the carrying capacity is 300 and yet HSUS they say there are not enough of them for a hunt
Where in Maine are you going?

Where in Maine are you going? Ty, I'll be in Caribou, ME which is in the NE part of the state; right on Canadian border.

Awesome, good luck! Are you using an outfitter? Yes, kinda...a very good friend of mine is a Maine guide. Check him out at "back woods guide service" on Facebook.

Don't make the mistake of thinking this only applies to Maine. HSUS has already stated a victory here and they are going after elimination of using dogs for all predators. I don't live in ME and don't hunt with dogs, but I am going to do what I can to defeat this one.

Muddy, that's the right attitude. It doesn't matter whether you hunt one way or another, we're all hunters and we all need to stand up in support each other.
