I'm looking to purchase a shoulder or chest holster for hunting. Give me your opinion of what is the style, brand that you chose and why. Also include a picture of your holster if you chose. It will be for a Ruger Bisley. Thanks

The owner of 7x Lether is a member here -- freedom475. I have two of his chest rigs and they are fantastic, and priced rtight. Here is a link: http://www.7xleather.com/chest_holsterI have been using the SRH chest rig a lot lately.

A Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake and Chesty Puller harness is a good option as well. I carry a non-scoped SRH in one and it keeps tight to my chest and is comfortable for all day wear.
Another good holster is a Ringler Custom Leather Wyoming Combination Holster. It isn't exactly a chest holster, more of a bandoleer type, but keeps my scoped SBH Bisley Hunter out of the way, secure and is very comfortable.

Take a look at the "Tauris CST". Can also be worn strong side or cross draw on your belt. Just Google it. Very well done.

First: Now Hunter rig from Barranti Leather is awesome. Awesome is an understatement. Second, this is what I use out of necessity: Scoped Bandolier HolstersIt could be better, but I have a scoped X-frame, for which appropriate holsters are hard to find. You can wear it either across the chest, under the arm, or on your hip. I think even the smallest model would be a little roomy for your Bisley, though.

I've hauled my NW hunter all over and it is the most comfortable I've ever used. He also makes adapters that will let you use some of your other favorite holsters with the same harness assembly now.

Look at the Wyoming Combination Holster from Von Ringler - great design that can be worn across the chest, bandolier-style, or on the hip. Had one made for my 7.5" unscoped .454. Great rig Wyoming Combination Holster

I vote for the 7x Leather chest holster. I have one for my Ruger Bisley and FA 83, used it on a high country Mule Deer hunt with a back pack on and it worked absolutely great. The maker is willing to work with you for any reasonable special modifications. Quality is exceptional, priced fairly.

I looked at the Ringler on their website. Is it really that big or is the guy modeling it about 90lbs?

The Ringler is a broad chuck of leather to me. My only complaint on the Rigler is it feels too lightweight to me. I have some of Ringlers holsters also but they are heavier leather than the Comb. rig. I wasn't as impressed with that one as his others I've ended up with over the years.....JMO

The Ringler holster looks HUGE in the picture, not so much so in person. No doubt that it is a large holster but so are just about all of the holsters that will accept a scoped gun.
I have had mine for a few years now and have no complaints. I carry a Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter with a 30mm red dot up top and it works very well and allows me to keep that big hunk of stainless out of my way.
The molded leather outer appears somewhat thinner than my Sourdough pancake, however I have had zero issues with durability or wear. I suspect that the holster will be around for many many years.
The other manufacturers also make top notch products and it is particularly difficult to pick just one. Maybe flip a coin, roll the dice or play eneny meeny miney moe. There isn't a bad one in the bunch.

+1 on 7x Leather, I own both a Diamond D as well as one of Wes's chest rigs, the quality and workmanship is not comparable. You will be hard pressed to find a better designed and built chest rig on the market and a great guy to do business with.
