I've been looking through this and other forums for quite awhile and I've never come across a 500 Linebaugh with a scope. Has anyone seen one? Why do you think this is not normally done? I see 454, 45 LC, 475L, 460, and 500 SW all the time with scopes. I know it goes against Johns idea of the 3 P s. What's you thoughts?

I had a red dot on mine, however, it wasn't a single action.

I don't build 500s for long range work so I prefer them to be short and open sighted. I have toyed with the idea of a 9" scoped 500 Wyoming just for fun though.

A true Linebaugh single action with a scope mounted would just look "wrong" in my eyes

My thoughts exactly. It would be an aesthetic killer.

Maybe with the scope mounts low enough and a big enough bell on the scope, we could use the barrel band to make sure the scope doesn't slip forward in the rings

That's a .500 Smith BFR. We're talking .500 Linebaugh on a "normal" sized revolver -- a Blackhawk to be exact. I stuck a red dot on my .50 Alaskan recently to get some weight on top.

It might look nice as a Bisley Hunter model.

The guy asked what a scoped 500 LB would look like. That's as close a picture I could find. Forgive me for not being "spot on".....

I wasn't taking a shot at you. That is a stretch framed gun, that's all. Different animal. Peace, James.
