well I found a single six for the grandson, didnt realy want the 9 1/2" barrel but for two hundred bucks I wasn't about to pass it up. I added a Weigand mount and a 2X Leupold scope,it should be a lot of fun in the squirrel woods.

NICE!!! That ought to get him hooked.

Question though. Are four scope rings really necessary on a Single Six?

Dang, you "stole" that gun son. Good buy. The longer barrel will be more forgiving. Enjoy!

Rod, too.

they are really just a single ring with double bands, not actually four separate rings.

the ol'e boy I got it from had two of them, one was unfired and this one he said had a hundred rounds or so through it. he wanted five hundred for the pair so I offered him two for this one and he took it. I have about a hundred dollars in the scope, mount and rings, so for around three hundred bucks I feel like I made out pretty dang good.

Nice hunting rig and barrel long enough to make the 22mag work on coyotes and fox to the fifty yard range.

Enjoying to circle of life

Um, am I the only one here that wonders why the scope? He is young. I assume (!) he has good eyes. I really feel a 'newbie' needs to learn iron sites. What range will he hunt with?
Why not go with the iron sites and not DESTROY the looks of the gun?
Maybe that's just me. Baskin Robbins has 32 flavors, I'm told.

btw, that was a nice steal on that gun, But I'da tried to get 'em both for 4. ;-)

I started him shooting at age five,he is ten now. he can shoot open sites or scoped, he prefers scoped. I figure his guns, his choice. so far the only game he has taken are squirrels and a couple coyotes but we will get him a deer this fall season.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I don't mind the look of the scoped Single Six. With that Weigand mount, the looks can be restored in 10 mins. I have the same scope mount on my Single Six in .17HMR.

Nice deal on the gun and what a lucky grandson...
