I just got to thinking about it, and I have three main hunting handguns for big game. I have one (Ruger MKIII Hunter) that I use for small game. The MKIII scores almost at will on rabbits, chipmunks, and squirrels.

But the other three, the "Brute Squad", 460, and Bisley SBHH 45 Colt are scoreless!!! The one handgun I scored a buck kill with was sold a few years ago. So now, I have NO HANDGUNS that have taken ANY big game!!! That is a sad thought...

I gotta catch up this season!!! I did get my bear tag in the mail a few days ago, so now I know I can at least chase one critter. Deer and elk tags should be coming shortly.

What guns are you guys "behind" on?

I have 4 Rugers I've purchased this year: BH 3 screw 41 mag, BH 3 screw 357 mag, SBH 3 screw 44 mag and an Old Army cap and ball revolver; none of these have even been fired yet. I do plan to kill a few deer with the Old Army this coming season. The other three I bought for project guns, but may give the Super some woods time before getting chopped.

All of my other handguns have scored; save maybe my PD carry guns.

My 460 hasn't claimed a single kill yet. As far as rifles go, my 375 H&H hasn't claimed anything since it came into my possession, although my granddad did use it in Africa back in the 80's.

my seville and abilene 44 mags have yet to take anything, my harton 44 special conversion has yet to take anything, and none of my 357s have taken a head of game while in my possesion. my main game takers are a 41 mag bishawk, 45 colt sbhh,45 colt Gallagher custom,44 nm flattop, and an om 44 mag flattop. of the ones i have taken game with the 41 mag is as good as any of the bunch.

My Bisley FT .44 Special, my .44 mag original FT, my 5" Charter Target Bulldog and my Khanke 82 all need kills. My go to .45 Blackhawk and my 441T have killed more than I can count. I have a assortment aside from those that have from 1 to 5 kills on them. reflex264

You can never have too many guns until your wife questions you about them. reflex264

One day my wife was home and LABRAT was at work but it was time to do a annual inspection and wipe down on the guns. I popped open the safes and started dragging guns into the living room and dining room-----and kitchen....I noticed her looking around kinda funny and all of the sudden she asks "what is this?" A deer rifle I said. In about a minute she asked "how many of these are deer rifles?" I told her several. She them asked "HOW MANY IS SEVERAL????" I counted them and quietly said 57. It went down hill from there. What is this???????? muzzleloader. How many are muzzleloaders????????? Whats this?????? Shotgun. HOW MANY ARE SHOTGUNS?????? WHATS THIS????? Elephant gun. HOW MANY ARE ELEPHANT GUNS AND WHAT DO YOU NEED ELEPHANT GUNS FOR????

Yeah, my wife tried doing that with me once. ONCE.

We got about halfway through my guns, and I said, "Hold on, follow me." I went to her closet, opened it up, and said, "How many shoes, dresses, and purses do you have?"

She turned around, left, and never said another word.

The only person you need to chase is yourself. With this addiction if you continue to purchase like most have there may not be enough critters around to blood them all.

Sounds like you gotta get busy this season!

I've got 4 revolvers and several SPs (barrels) that need to delve out some terminal performance. And a couple rifles as well.

Once you buy enough {not sure what that term means] You will find you have go to guns that always seem to get used and some not so much or not at all.I find I am way pickier about purchases now and choose for specific purposes instead of I want one of everything. Must be getting old ,or something.

No Junebug, I don't think age has anything to do with it. You are already an accomplished handgun hunter, you don't need multiple handguns that will never make a hunting kill. You just use what works & go hunting! What could be better?

Gave my nephew 2 day`s range time to get use to the trigger (that was the worst of any of my FA) then took him to the Pig Farm in western PA, stuck him behind a bale of hay and he popped this ram. First thing he said, "that was`ent so hard". I know it would even be easier and cheaper to shoot a doe. Then I can`t help but think of the young lady that dropped that critter with one shot from her 9mm. Guys, life`s to short... get a move on.

Guys, I would hunt with a rock if I had to,and have in times past, it is that much a part of me. I will be a handgun hunter untill I die, but I will hunt with a handgun only as long as it is ethical for me to do so. I owe that to the game animals that have given me so much pleasure. I am sure that time will come, and I hope I am smart enough to know when to say when,[hopefully at around 90 or so.]
