That's really too bad. I feel sorry for you. It is obsolete and worthless.
That's why I killed my first Elk with one.
It was a Super 14, 2x Leupold and load was a very stiff charge of H322 (JD Jones chastized me for the load
)under a Hornady 200gr spire point. I took teh 5x4 broadside at a little over 140 yards-while he was bugling!
The bullet performed very well. Entered just behind left shoulder, but a little high (I thought) took out a rib, both lungs, broke 2 ribs on off-side and stuck in the hide.
As it turned out, the slight down angle of teh shot allowed for the top of the heart to be blown off.
The bull managed to go about 200 yards, but the meadow and entrace to the timber looked like a butcher shop.
I had the hunt written up in Colorado Outdoors in 1990, and The Sixgunner the same year. The 35 Rem is a good one and a keeper. Thats why I just gave my 3rd one to Dan B. on this site.
I still have my Herrett. 35 Calibers are way under rated, and I think the 35 Rem is most of all
. As I recall, H322 and 4198 are good ones for it. I'll bet the 180's are awesome too. God Luck.
