Well it took 13 years but my hunting buddy and I finally drew first season bull tags in unit 61! If anyone has any firsthand experience in this unit they'd like to share please feel free. This will be a handgun only hunt with 375 and 338 JDJ contenders being the main weapons. Thanks in advance!

Don't miss. Congrats on your draw!
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I hunted elk there about 10yr ago. The only thing I can tell you is all the elk seem to be in the deep draws. I was bowhunting at the time but, the terrain would be good for handgun hunting.

We were at the top of the mountain towards Purcell bros hunting cabins. Unit 62 is on one side of the road and 61 the other. If I remember right it was about 3 miles out of Montrose. I was there early season and woke up to bugling every day. [lots of it]
