As a kid, I dreamed of owning a Ruger Redhawk in .44 Remington Magnum. I even set about saving money from mowing yards to gather enough cash to buy one. Unfortunately, the $400+ price tag of the day was too steep for me. I ended up buying a Ruger Deerfield Carbine in .44 Mag from my uncle instead. The nephew price of $125 was much easier to attain.

30 years later............I'm staring at a used 5.5" barreled .44 Mag Redhawk in the cabinet of my LGS. Like Pavlov's Dog, I began to salivate. I look at the serial number and jump on their computer to check the Ruger site. It was made in 1984. The very year I worked my butt off to get one. All to no avail.

I had to have this revolver. It was an Elanore...........a dream.........a goal never reached. She would finally be mine.

I was one happy individual.

At the range, she was everything I'd ever hoped for. Trigger has had some work and breaks nicely in single action. Double action is smooth if not long. And she shoots.............well.............

..........she shoots where I want her to shoot.

The addition of a Galco cross draw holster will make her a dandy hunting companion.

30 years in the making...........another off the bucket list.

My first big bore was a Redhawk in 44...and thanks to a fellow forum member, she now has a sibling in .41

Great score, and great photos Zee! Happy for ya!

My elusive one is a Marlin lever gun in 45 Colt. Someday....

I am heavy on .44 Mags but, there is a distinct lack of a .45 Colt. I'll have one some day. Just haven't found the right one.

Yet.

I knew your picture looked familiar.... You have one of the best hunting handguns made today. My Red put lead GC bullets in a 3" group at 100. She`s a great shooter. Good luck

I love my Redhawk

5 1/2 is my favorite barrel length. I had one with a drill and tap mount on the top strap and a 2x Nikon. It had perfect balance to me.

That's a nice Redhawk! Like the grip.

This is the first 5.5" revolver I've ever owned. I agree, the length is about perfect. Nice blend of carry and performance.

Nice gun and proud you finally got one.

I understand about the "dream come true" part as I wanted a Ruger 44 special for years without paying for a custom...and it finally happened with the New Model Flattop.

Enjoy your gun.
