I'm building a presentation about handgun hunting and I would like to get your inputs. Pick one or two words that describe you or our sport as it relates to hunting with a handgun.
For example - Dedication!
What say you?

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Extremely rewarding discipline. (For myself, I have zero interest in picking up a long gun during deer season, simply because it doesn't require the same level of skill, and doesn't provide the same level of personal accomplishment for me)

How do I see handgun hunting? Let me count the ways:
Unique - Challenging - Satisfying - Addictive - Unbelievably Rewarding
But most of all, it just feels right, you know what I mean? I've taken to the woods while carrying a rifle, bow, muzzleloader, and shotgun, but when I step into the field with a revolver in hand, it just feels right.

For me the elephant in the room is are we talking a Blackhawk with 5.5" barrel in say 44mag or bolt pistol for mountain top to next mountain top for sheep with rifle type bullets. To me both are for sure hunting but very different feeling for my soul.

Accomplished.
No other implement of hunting makes me feel the way I do when I have taken game with a handgun. I've been hunting and reloading for handguns since 1983, and a rifle, muzzleloader or bow has never made me feel the same way handguns do.

Actually, for me it's 'hunting" with a handgun. I determine that I will meet my quarry at a time of my choosing and when I know that I can close the deal, I do. It's not casual and it's not reckless, it is a calculation of my woodcraft skills, my knowledge of my quarry and my skills with whatever weapon that I choose to be using. there is some degree of luck involved, but good luck is when preparation meets opportunity.

I feel "unencumbered" when hunting with the pistols...When with a bow you also have arrows and quiver...and the rifle and shotguns are long and heavier....the pistol just seems out of the way until needed....

It is not about the shot, rather all the preparation to get to the shot.
