Took advantage of a sale and promotion to acquire new eyes for the Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley in .44 Mag. It's a 2x Weaver Pistol Scope. I wouldn't have minded bumping up to 4x, but I wanted a silver scope on this gun for a change. Besides, this is a sub 100 yard gun............so, 2x is plenty. I think she's mighty pretty now and the scope seem well made. Will hit the range this weekend to sight her in.

This is the scope she used to wear. But, that scope is needed elsewhere on another project.

I've found the weaver to be really clear and they've held up VERY well. It looks great on the hunter!

Took my Leupold 2-8 off my Ruger Hunter and replaced it with a Burris FF2. What a wonderful transformation.
Your gun looks very nice.

Looks like an upgrade to me. I like the matching colors myself but can't prove it by looking at my setups. I am always looking for a deal.. You got a deal and it matched to boot.

Your photography skills are on par with your taste in firearms. Ditto! Looks good - my photo sessions never turn out that good, and I end up freaking out the neighbors trying to get good natural light in the backyard

I've got the same scope on my 45 Colt BisHunter. I think it's a perfect fit. I've got a couple thousand rounds of Ruger only 355gr loads down the tube, packed it around for a few years and have never had to readjust zero. Great scope for a great gun.

That is very reassuring to hear! This and the one on my new Casull, are the first Weaver scopes I've ever tried. Was hoping they were a good choice as I mostly use Leupold and have been pleased.
These Weavers are going off the Reservation for me into uncharted territory.

Went to the range to get her zeroed this afternoon. I used a sharpie marker to mark the scope for signs of slipping. Of which, there were none. The scope performed perfectly! For the range, the fine center reticle is awesome for accuracy! Still think it's a little thin for field work, but it'll do. The adjustments are tactile and faintly audible. A little soft on the clicks compared to a X-III Leupold, but much better than an FX Leupold with no tactile clicks. The turrets do turn a little easier than my preference. Wouldn't mind a little more tension. The scoped tracked well with adjustments and as long as I did my part on the trigger, the gun shot well with the scope. She's ready to hunt. Very pleased with the combo for the <$200 scope price compared to a $350 or $450 Leupold.

Nice! It looks like you have taller rings on yours. Any particular reason?

The original stainless rings went to another project years ago. When I eventually got around to scoping this gun, those blued rings were the only ones I had in The Man Cave.

Nice! It looks like you have taller rings on yours. Any particular reason? Not to speak for OP, but when I scoped my Hunter the rings that came with the gun were too low for a scope without cranking the rear sight all the way down. I did not want to do that so traded with Ruger for a taller set. Some scopes will fit between the sights.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

This little 2x28 Weaver is a great scope for the Hunter. IRC it has more eye releif than the Leupolds which can make a difference with on the Hunters since the scope sits further away from the shooter. Especially if you have long arms. Here's a pic of mine with the same scope with the standard rings. I have since put a Butler scope cap on it. The scope could go a little further forward if needed but it works fine where it's at. Tried 100yds one day. Shot the 2 flyers and then settled in and shot the 3 shot group. The scope/gun combo will do it's part if I can do mine.

Those Ruger's sure aren't built to the same build quality standard as a Freedom Arms (and are likewise far more affordable), but they are very impressive guns in their own right. I do love my SBH Hunter! As a consumer/hunter you're getting a tremendous value.
