i have wanted a 44 magnum old model flattop since i was ten years old. one day perusing a gun store in the town that my then new job was located, i found a very nice condition om flattop in the pistol case. it had the conversion to transfer bar safety installed and as i found out when i got the gun, bubba had taken a grinder to the front and back of the grip frame. thanks to Stan George and Robb Barnes, i had two proper xr3 grip frames to fit the gun in less than a week. that original grip frame always bothered me though. having a very close friend that is a tig welder by trade, has made some of my hairbrained ideas possible and has helped me get some sixguns in time and proper working order. today i went into town early on my way to work and stopped by his shop and showed him the gip frame and what was missing. he got interested in it and welded up the offending parts and now i can fix the frame and put it back on the gun the way it was meant to be. after i get the frame fitted to a set of stocks, i am going to have it ceracoated black and enjoy the result of my work. Alan Harton better watch out, lol

Labrat,

Good luck with the project - trying to salvage Bubba's custom grip job is an admirable task, but with replacements already in house, it woulda been in my scrap pile!

Looking forward to seeing your results, Alan 2.0! If this turns out, how much would you charge for a Bearcat Shopkeeper conversion?

SChunter, if it were a new model blackhawk frame i prolly would scrap it. since it is an old model xr3 grip frame and they dont exactly grow on trees anymore, it is very much worth saving to me.
