Yes, I think there is good interest across a lot of the membership but the biggest problem is finding a place that can accommodate a group of 15-20 guys and then getting them to commit with a deposit. Everyone would like to go but it's really difficult to get people to spend the cash to travel and hunt and then you have scheduling on top of that. This has been my experience... There are a few small groups that get together already.

I love getting together on forum hunts. Can't always make 'em, but when I can...

Good Luck! One will have several problems when trying to do this. First problem is getting enough real interest & involvement. A lot will talk, a few will ask questions, & even fewer will actually do it. Some will not hunt behind a fence, and some will not travel a long distance & pay a lot of money to just have a guarantee to hear the birds sing & hear the crickets chirp. All I will say is good luck buddy! I have met several really great members of this site on planned hunts, but do not expect to have more than 5-10 actually commit.

Perhaps if it were approached from a little bit different perspective? As a sort of mentoring / teaching / encouraging opportunity where some of the experienced pros to set up an opportunity for some greenhorns to hunt along side them?

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

Jamesfromjersey & I get together & spill some blood & rip guts at least once a year if you are diving distance from North Carolina. Pigs are never safe.

I'd love to do something like that, but as a college student, that's not quite an option for me. It's for that reason I suggested we do a group video. I know a video could never replace the camaraderie of an actual group hunt, it'd be a close alternative.

OK.... I`ll try this again. If any of you guys would like to get together and hunt pigs at Tioga, PA let me know. If you have a problem with a fence then don`t even reply..... Its a 5 hour ride for me so if you are in the area think about it... If I had the money I`ed cover the cost but I did not work that work hard before I retired.... All information and prices are on their website. http://www.hunt-tioga.com PS- its a lot of fun. PPS I will be in Idaho the first week of August.

James, One day I'll make that trip just for the heck of it. We will have to drag Hoover and Barranti too! Still thinking next Fall may work for Missouri though in the meantime. We shall see.

Looking at that picture, I would hate to guess how many pounds of meat have been shot while you were wearing that hat. When you retire that hat, I want it

Organizing and maintaining a group hunt is a whole lot of work behind the scenes, but well worth it if it is successful.

Basically, you gotta have a product (hunt) that people really want in on, and if you solve that detail, the rest falls into place.

Having originated and run the Handgun Hunters International Antelope Hunt for 24 years straight, with average yearly attendance of 15 hunters, I can attest to this.

Good luck with your goal of a forum hunt, and let me know if I can be of any help as far as the "behind the scenes" stuff!

JamesfromJersey,

I have read on several forums that the Wilderness in PA is considered better than Tioga several times.

I have only been to one preserve and that was 15 years ago in Ohio (White Oak) and had much fun.

Have you ever been to the Wilderness?

Guys, This is real easy.... If you would really like to get together, then putting a time that is good for everyone is important. I will be gone the first week in August so any other time is good. What about you??

When I hunted Potter county a number of years ago I ran my jeep off a state game land road that was ice covered. I was lucky and so were the deer..... Sept./ Oct. sounds great. We have to ALL agree on a date...

Just let me know.... Talked with the owner of Tioga yesterday and told him to expect us... It would be better to hunt on a week day rather then weekend this way it would only be us handgunners in the field. Even if its a Friday....

talked with racksmasher (Jim) today and we agreed on Thursday, Oct. 2 to meet at Tioga to hunt Friday, Oct. 3, this way we should be the only hunters there as most of them arrive Friday afternoon..... If anyone else would like to join us, just let either of us know... there are plenty of boar to shoot with your handgun. This is one I took a few weeks ago, but you don`t have to shoot one of this size........
