I have a set of 243 Win dies with the name E-BAIR stamped on the die body. The sticker on the outside of the RCBS box says [.243 WIN. 2- DIE SET BEAR CUB $17.50] I can see that it was put over the original RCBS sticker. I called RCBS anyway and asked if they knew anything about them. The fellow on the phone had been with RCBS since 1969 and said he knew they had never produced anything like it or had ever heard of E-BAIR. I know that the dies were bought around 1973.

Anybody know what I have? Are they custom dies or just a small company I've never heard of?

Tigger, can't say I remember who he is, but I have 3 separate sets of his (BAIR) dies on my shelf. Blue plastic box. I have 357, 44, and 45 ACP. I use them all teh time. The 45acp has a carbide sizer in it.

Here is an address from about 30 years ago for BAIR.

BAIR Company
4555 North 48 St.
Lincoln, NE 68504
(402) 434-9121

I remember them as nice people who gave a poor sailor a military discount on reloading equipment.

a17shooter, I tried the info and as I suspected I found nothing. I did a web search and checked the AT&T directory, still nothing. I'm quite sure they are out of business.

The reason I wanted some info on the dies is that the seater die has two adjustments on top. I don't have any dies like this. The top one is the seater stem. The next one lines up with the neck of the case. It's like an adjustable collar. The opening is .260" and beveled. The outside of a 243 neck measures .276". Is this to put a crimp on the bullet? Anybody have an idea of what I've got?
