FA and Ruger eat your heart out Just kidding, but this is beautiful for me everyone hates, on Taurus. This was my first time shooting with the scope. I tried a few different hand-loads. I shot 5 rounds 2 went in the same hole in the middle. Uusing Hodgdon 800-x hi-skor. This was on a hornady 240g xtp mag with 17.5 grains. estimated speed about 1600 FPS based on a max load of 20 grains at 1800 FPS.
target out 25 yards (not far) but hey im glad the scope works as intended Next week ill give you a range report out to 50 yards

I will tell you & I may be one of the few, but I loved my 454 Raging Bull. It was more accurate & smoother shooting than my Freedom Arms. I hate I got rid of mine!

Good deal! Is that scope really canted to right or is it just the picture. Did it twist during recoil?

Not bad for 1/4 yardage. Trot that target out to 100 and let's see what she has to offer. I don't "hate" Taurus, I just have had too many friends who had issues with them to invest or recommend. What are you shooting off of?
Rod, too.

I was wondering how the Bull would shoot with the longer cylinder. Looks like it does alright. Good shooting.

This brings up something I'm offen worried about, how do you keep bags from burning through while shooting off of them? I'm cheap and use empty shot bags filled with sand and this never fails to happen to mine. Steve

Lay a piece of leather over them as a shield...

Steve, I've used everything from an old towel (one that can be thrown away once it starts burning/tearing) to a piece of leather "blast shield" that was made for one of my bag sets. Be warned, the leather will reflect the cylinder blast, making the hair on your hands a little shorter and crispy...gloves are nice!

I use a piece off an old welding sleeve . Cut straight across and leave doubled, makes two or three shields per sleeve very soft and flexible. I use the gray split leather one and leave one in each box blind and one in my backpack ,plus one in the range bag. Cheap to make and sure saves the bags and backpack.

I think the replies about the protection of the sand bags may have strayed off topic a bit, but this caught my attention. I tend to buy and wear insulated welding gloves that have a large gauntlet. I use them for wood cutting and splitting a lot because they are easy on and easy off. When I finally wear a hole in the fingers, they become my new sand bag protectors. There is still so much good sturdy leather left because of the large and long gauntlet that they serve this purpose very well. I buy these gloves from a local welding shop and they are a third of the price of name brand gloves. Thanks and......."Shoot Straight"

With those duel purpose .410/45 colt type revolvers, I've always overlooked them because I figure there is no way a bullet from a 1 1/2 inch long cartridge can jump another 1 1/2 gap and be accurate at all. With this in mind the pressure of a .454 seems really dangerous.
I guess I was wrong. Good group there.
