There will be more to come soon but this was the delegation who met in Windhoek, Namibia to discuss handgun hunting. The meeting went very well. Larry, Marina Lamprecht and myself working on the presentations.

Good job Gary...hopefully it will come to fruition soon...not that I will have a chance to take advantage of it anytime soon. I plan to retire next Mar...that might make it where it could be worked into the schedule...I am not so sure about the budget, though.

Very interesting article. I had no idea so many German's hunted over there (more than US hunters) and that hunting only produces 2.3 % of the country's GDP. What on earth is the rest of the GDP, and I would have thought hunting would be a bigger part of the dollar percentages, given what we read over here.
Good luck,

Namibia was German colony and this is the reason why Germans usually pick Namibia for their (hunting and none hunting) trips. It's not easy to find flight from Europe to Windhoek which is not from Germany. Aside of them, strong & growing hunting population is coming from Russia. I understood that 2.3% of GDP is coming from hunt directly but if you add ton of $ hunters are spending for accommodation, transportation, game meat, add tourist trips it probably double it's share. Namibia is making a lot of $ on diamonds and cattle meat (they have great deal with EU for meat export). Bear in mind that we are talking about country with only 2 mio. population

Igor,
Thank you for the information. I had no idea about the cattle, but suspected something like diamonds for the GDP. Even if you double the hunting for all the additional items, it still seems a lot lower than what one might expect. And I say expect, as much of the information I see on line about hunting, seems to imply numbers much higher.
Nice to see news and hear from folks like yourself, about what the rest of the world is up to, in areas that we here care about.
Take care,
Craig

Gary, that is a spectacular opportunity to be a part of the big picture, and make a difference for those of us choosing to hunt with handguns. It is pretty cool for all of us to be able to see some of this in the making. Thank you for all you do, and have done!

While I may never get the chance to hunt in Namibia, I cannot completely express my appreciation for what you are doing to move our sport forward. Sleep soundly knowing that you are an inspiration to us all. Sincereist regards, Chance Atchley.
