I put this post under handgun hunting because I`am sure you all know who Dick Casull is and this would be the right place for a post about him. Last week on a trip to Idaho I drove over to Freedom, Wyoming and visited Dick at his home. At 80+ he is still as sharp as ever as he invited me into his home to meet his wife Geri. She made a pot of coffee and we all sat at his kitchen table and talked on everything from guns to the shape of our country. He brought out his personal octagon barreled 454 that he used to test a number of 454 loads along with some of his other firearms. For me, this was a moment in time that I thought I would never see. The man is everything you think he is plus so much more. A true gentlemen and gun designer... Dick`s silver decorated saddle and matching holster with 454`s in the loops Dick`s 454 while signing my Cape buff photo Dick and his wife Geri who is a real sweetheart Dick with his American Handgunner Award [img]

Retirement is a great thing! James, I know that visit had to be awesome. Definitely one of the great pioneers of handgun hunting. Would have loved to hear that conversation.

WOW! That's awesome James. Great to see the legend, Dick Casull! I only wish we'd see and hear more from him about the old days. That period was so interesting for firearms in general when Dick was experimenting with the 45 magnum! Thanks for sharing..

He used to drive to Idaho Falls and search out old winchesters and colts. I wonder if he still has one of the nicest collections in the world ? Or if he has it in a museum some where.

Campbellkids, This the gun?? I also had a chance to get this gun when I saw it in a gun store in Salt Lake City a number of years ago, but the Auto Mag I bought cleaned me out...

I should not have been surprised by the number of posts filled with good words about Dick Casull and was only to happy to share my visit with you. This is a big country and I know some of the members may not have the chance to visit Freedom, Wyoming and I`am glad to have shared my experience.....

Always appreciate the adventure, "JamesfromJersey". This one is special, though a bit humbling. You see the size of his sidearm?---my arm is trembling just lookin' at it
