Tennessee's whitetail gun season starts November 22nd. When will your season start, specifically a season in which you can use your handguns?

Sept. 27 - I'm going this weekend to do some scouting. Most of the big deer are killed later in the year when the rut starts but...

Usually the 2nd weekend in November through the 3rd weekend. Some parts of the state get an extra week.

I can start on squirrel 1Oct, but deer has to wait till 10 Nov.

Here in Aiken County,South Carolina deer season has been in since August 15...No limit either.We have the longest deer season in the USA.Ending Jan 1..l dont go til 0ct 1-15, when its cooler... No restriction on handguns.Except no rim fire allowed,,,These rules/dates dont apply to the whole state tho.

For me here in Dutchess Cty N.Y. Oct 1st EVERYTHING opens accept fox and bobcat.

1 Oct. opens NY's season for just about everything, including small game, turkey, and archery big game. Most furbearers/varmints open at various dates throughout Oct. Squirrel has started in most regions on 1 Sept.; general firearms for big game in my part of the state starts 15 Nov. this year and runs through 7 Dec.; thereafter for the next 10 days, it's smoke-pole season.

Our "magic week" normally falls between Halloween and mid-November.

June and july are the only months we don't have dear or bear open here.

Nov. 15 over here for the southern zone gun season, we can gun hunt earlier in the northern zone if we want.

Here in Connecticut the firearms season opens on Wednesday November 19th and runs to December 9th on private land.

On privately owned land, you are allowed two deer, one must be antlerless. A couple of years ago the state allowed deer hunting with revolvers but you must be a resident of the state and have the appropriate pistol permit. Or you can own land of 10 acres of more as a non resident and hunt your own land with a revolver.

The legislature failed to allow single shot handguns and for some dumb reason made it revolver only.

So as long as you carry the revolver openly while hunting, the caliber 357 magnum or larger with a barrel no longer that 12 inchges, have permission on private land of 10 acres or more, paid an extra $5 for the revolver endorsement you can revolver hunt for deer.

One issue is that the gun season is towards the end of the rut. I keep hunting journals and I have noticed how that as I get towards Thanksgiving my luck takes a steep downhill turn.

I am going to start my season September 22 with a doe hunt in South Carolina. It is a backstap mission.

It depends on the hunt area around here. The fall bear season behind my house opened Aug 1st. One of the cow tags I have opened Aug 15th. These are gun hunts not archery. There is also an antelope season that is for handgun/muzzle loader down on south pass that opens Aug 20th

My SC tracts came in Sept 1st, and NC club opens Oct 18th...

Archery season started here a little over a week ago. As for handgun/firearms hunting, bear season started today. Deer and elk starts on October 25th.

Archery season here starts the 27th. I normally don't start that early for fear of scaring all the deer off the property before I have a chance to get the 460 after them in November, but I'm thinking on one weekend of bowhunting followed by a month of not hunting won't scare too many of them off.

You'd be surprised. I have 2 stands on a piece of nearly unpressured land that I now check only once during the late summer (to make sure they're still safe), and then don't visit again until our firearms opening weekend. Even in my suburban area where deer are accustomed to somewhat regular human interaction, they know where humans are supposed to be (close to houses and roads), and where they're not (out in the middle of the woods).

Well WV 3 day early bear season is officially over. Our group managed to bag 7 bears in 3 days so everyone went home happy. The .357 worked well although I must admit they were all security shots to keep from getting dogs hurt. Very pleased with the results from the 180gr. swift bullet. We can use handguns on hogs and coyotes all year. Our muzzle loader deer season runs from Oct. 25 thru Nov.2 and gun deer season from Nov. 22 thru Dec. 7 but are only allowed 1 buck and 1 doe per season. We also have a special holiday doe season around Christmas but it varies in different parts of the state.

Well IL. deer season will be limited to a doe this year due to me moving out of state and getting married. A buck tag was very expensive and almost gave me a heart attack!!!!! Here in Missouri season will come in later this fall and pig is open all the time if I'm not mistaken, and I have a good place for pigs to meet the demise with 280gr of swift a-frame. Starting my season in Georgia Nov 9-11, Sunday evening, morning and evening Monday and Tuesday morning. Almost two full days and I'll be taking a cheater stick with me AKA 257 Roberts Winchester Featherweight. It's been quite a while since I've rifle hunted, hope I remember how. I will have a .45 ACP as back up in case the deer gets within handgun range or is at a bad angle for swinging a rifle around.
I will hunt in Tennessee before Thanksgiving dinner. My Ruger Old Army is my choice. I realize the season opens earlier, but work commitments keep my out of the woods.

Handgun season in Nebraska for doe whitetail deer only is October 1-10.
