I found a very nice Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag. at a local gun shop for $350.00. I already Have a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in .44 Mag., & a model 28-2 S$W in .357 mag.. Do I really need this thing, and is $350.00 a good price for a 95% and better condition Blackhawk? Ser # is in the 47-874XX range. I do want it, but right now I would have to part with something, I think.

Festus, can you enlighten me as to why the .41 is more expensive to shoot/reload. I just came into possession of a Blackhawk.41mag which came with dies, bullets, some extra brass, etc.
See my post "New Toy" under Shooters Bench.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Grendel, If you`ve never owned a 41 and have used the 44 for most of your hunting, I think you will find (like I did) that the 41 is capable of just about everything your 44 can do. Its just as easy as the 44 to reload and the costs are the same. When I shot the factory standard rounds for both handguns I found the kick to be less with the 41 then the 44.......

If you don't have to part with the 44 or 357 I would go for it.

Thanks guys. The other revolvers I have are safe. I'll find some way of digging up the "ching". My buddy works at the gunshop where the .41 is and offered to loan me the money, but I hate to owe anyone for a "toy".

I'm just going to side with James on this one. For most of the revolver work I do the .41 seems to fit the bill.

Grendel--l too like the 41 mag.lt is a bit less kick, but can do most anything a 44mag can do..There are a couple minor trouble spots in owning one tho..90% of all ammo/bullets are limited to 210gr bullets..Federal and Winchester do make a couple other weights, but they are hard to find..Then again 41 mag ammo is hard to find
