Big game seasons are beginning to open, and it won't be long before we're all out hunting. For this reason, I feel it's best to remind everyone of my video proposal and what it will involve. To recap:

A few months ago, Gary added the member video forum for people who film their hunts. The drawback is, while many people have the capability to film their hunts, few have the time/capability to edit a video. That's where I come in.

The Proposal:

You hunt with your handguns. You film yourself hunting with your handguns. You mail a USB drive or SD card with the videos on them to me. I do the rest.

What I need from you:

- Film yourself handgun hunting. You don't necessarily have to harvest something, just film yourself and your quarry in action.

- Any digital video camera will work, from an inexpensive one to the high end model, as long as you can save the video to an SD card or USB drive.

- Try to avoid foul language, okay?
;\)

What you can expect from me:

Upon receiving your SD Cards and USB drives, I'll go to work. In general, editing will be left to my discretion. Based on past experience, I'm likely going to cut quite a bit of footage to make a decent video. However:

- If you want something specific to be kept in the video, tell me and I'll keep it.

- If you want something specific to be cut, tell me and I'll cut it.

- I have 147 different pieces of music to use in these videos, which I have gained permission to use in these types of videos. If you want music in your video or not, tell me.

- Once a video is finished, I will upload it to whichever website I'm going to host these on. I will send all the involved parties a PM with a link to the video, so you can judge it for yourself. If you want something changed, I'll change it and re-upload. When everyone is satisfied with the end result, either you or I will post it to the member video forum, and maybe in the handgun hunting forum as well.

- When I'm finished, I'll mail the SD cards/USB drives back to their respective owners.

Filming Tips:

- Ask a family member or hunting partner to film for you. Otherwise, a good camera tripod is a great asset.

- Don't pass up a shot just because you can't get the kill on video. If you film a game animal, we hear a gunshot, then you film yourself with a dead game animal, we can pretty much figure out what happened.
;\)

- When you film, begin filming a few seconds early and stop recording a few seconds after you're done. I can trim any excess, but I can't add what isn't there. Plus, a good transition to the next scene needs a bit of extra video length.

Types of videos:

There are two types of videos I was thinking of making, but it all depends on how many people take me up on the offer and what they desire. They are:

- Single video. A single handgun hunter and their hunting partners film themselves. The video will consist of just them.

- Group video. Multiple handgun hunters and their hunting partners create multiple videos. I'll put everyone's videos together into a single group video. We could even have certain themes to the video, such as revolver users only, specialty pistol users only, whitetail hunters only, elk hunters, hog hunters, etc.

So, who's interested?

I already ordered a camera arm that attaches to a tree. I will be filming myself. Can't promise anything but I'll try.

If at all possible I am in. Very busy but was going to do the same thing. It is much easier for someone else to do! reflex264

I don't know how long you want to spread this out. We were going to go hogging in a couple of months but I am having a couple of health issues and have decided to wait to early spring. Could have some good hog video if it goes like it as in the past.

If I can find time, I could go back in time several years and dig up some footage. None of mine has ever been edited and is still on VHS or Mini DVC. I'll try to come up with something though; no definite promises, all is time dependent.

No problem. Just film whenever you go, and PM me when you get back.

Can you do anything with Super 8 or Betamax?
I'm way behind the times with all the high tech gadgets. Seriously though, this is a great idea!
