lots of movement this morning but most was way out of pistol range so I got out the distress whistle and called these five into range in a little over an hour. also picked a few pawpaws that I had found a couple weeks back, still lots of green ones on the trees.

Very nice

Looks like that Taurus is shooting pretty good for you .I do love squirrel hunting. I havent seen a pawpaw in the woods around here since I was a young boy, and that was some time ago.Good shooting!

That was a good morning! Our squirrel season opens in another week; can't wait.
Squirrels eat all our paw paws around here before they get ripe. Congrats on a good hunt!

Sorry for my ignorance but I have never been in the southern US and am not familiar with a paw paw.

also known as the timber banana because they taste similar to a banana only much sweeter and richer tasting. when I was a kid the trees would be loaded with fruit but now for some reason you hardly ever find them, there are lots of trees but they don't seem to bare fruit.

It's them green things laying by them skirls. They are tasty when they're ripe.

I've lived in the south all my life, but I've never heard of them, either. You learn something new every day.

longhunter:

I followed the line you provided and found out there are even paw paw trees in the southeastern part of Nebraska.

I know some folks down that way so a squirrel hunting trip is in order along with tracking down the mysterious paw paw fruit.
