I use red dots a lot, but I also use open irons.

I have a hard time seeing standard irons at distance but these work well for me:

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I use both and enjoy both but they are different situations. I want my target 50 yards or under in general with open sights. A scoped gun doesn't present that limitation.

I just scoped my blackhawk .41. I felt like an idiot doing so, as I bought this weapon to use for close range work. I couldn't see the sights, so something had to give.I cringe at the thought of wounding a deer, hence the 2x scope.

I saw the peep/ fiber optic set up as some of you run. I plan on running that set up next season. I used to shoot deer at 150 yards with a similar set up on a muzzleloader, I should be ok at 50 yards with the .41.

I carry my Colt Anaconda most of the time on horseback, seems a waist to put a scope on it. A real waist if the scope was banged around

Sometimes, and in the past...

But I like the red dot sight setups and do a bit better with them.

I use both. I usually carry an iron sight revolver, belt gun and a scoped Contender on a sling. My hunting terrain varies from thick cover to very open fields and woods. Iron sights for close and fast. Scope for longer ranges.

I do sometimes, also...

I have the same setup s4s4u has on my SRH 44 mag. I've tried the scope but it moved too much for me and I can't afford the better red dots. I destroyed 3 cheaper red dots so gave that up. The peep sight works great. I'd like to find a smaller diameter fiber optic front but it still works great for me.

That's some nice animals and the peep site looks to be a great setup, I might try that

Sometimes you just need to do it FAST. A scope won't work

Yep
IMO open sights are for revolvers/pistols

JMO.... dont yell.
Red dots have a place but Im not into cross hairs and magnification.
Scopes have never been by cup of tea
For 22 I got had a scope, took it off.
I could shoot as good without it
If I want to shoot 300 yds Ill take a rifle

I also don't care for long eye relief and magnification. I have a couple of specialty pistols with rifle scopes on them but other than that it is dots or open sights on the shortguns.

Rod, too.
