Hi, handguners. I've been a handgun only hunter for over twenty years now and thought I knew about every hunting handgun ever made. Then I saw a revolver for sale I'd never heard of before made in Germany and called the Janz Revolver. If I remeber right there website is http://www.janz-revolver.com. They list calibers from 22lr. up to 500 smith and wesson and barrel lengths up to 12''. I was wondering if any of you guys own or have used one of these before. Looks like the price is higher than even the legendary Korth revolver. Matt

Have been intrigued by these since first seeing a reference to them some years ago. A system whereby you can go from .22 to .454 simply by changing barrels and cylinders but retaining the one frame (kinda like a Contender but in revolvers). However from what I read, if you need to ask the price then you can't afford one. I'm definitely in the 'can't afford one' camp.

When I first heard of them I sent a letter to Germany requesting their catalog. At the time the largest load for the gun was 454. The beauty of these double action revolvers is that not only can you change the barrels but the cylinders as well. I was really interested in getting the gun set up for 22 lr/mag - 357 and 454.
The versatility of this type of revolver is incredible.....

They look to me like they would make a very usefull and interesting hunting gun. To bad the price is so shall we say awwwwsome. Heritage Arms in Florida has one in 44mag for sale but the price is about what I paid for my F-150 4x4 pickup. No joke. They have it listed on gunbroker also. Action number 448774270 if anyone would like to take a look at it.

No reason for a revolver to cost that much no matter of the engineering, workmanship, or innovation.

It must be a European thing. At the SCI Convension back in February, I was looking at a British manufacturer's rifles. There was a beautiful scoped 404 Jeffrey for the mind boggling price of $100,000.

Solid,

Thanks for the link. You'd think for 16k they could maybe toss in another barrel/caliber ;^)

You'd think. But I assume the price includes some kind of fancy lifetime warrenty that covers the round trip airfare to send the company master gunsmith to your house to repair your gold plated super hammer along with a couple hot german models that give you a massage while he works.

And you'd also think that the fit and finish on the grips would, at least, meet the finish of a production Freedom Arms. That thing has got gaps you could stick a dime into!

Perhaps for the price include a gently used BMW coupe

I could be wrong but the grips look like they are made for them by KN Nill-Griffe the german grip maker. I have a set of there stippled, finger groove grips on my Manurhin MR73 22 caliber revolver. The grips I have are comparable to a set of hogue wood grips except they cost about twice as much.
