I picked up a used 5.5" bisley today from a guy, got the Ruger, a $280 cowboy holster setup and a box of HSM cowboy loads for $500 which I didn't think was to bad. After shooting my 50th anniversary Ruger 44 mag I couldn't stand the cylinder not lining up easily for loading so I did the free spin pawl mod and now it's beautiful! I bought some brass but I only had the one box of ammo and it was pretty light stuff but I was able to hit targets out to 75yds just plinking. After reading some bad reports about being inaccurate and tight throats I was nervous. I guess these guns released from accusport had some issues? I will slug the throats and barrel tomorrow to check that but I'm curious if anyone else has one and if they have had problems?

Not bad at all. The newer guns seem to be better in the throat department than the older ones. My Bisley had tight throats and once I opened them up just .001", so I could push a bullet through with my fingers, groups shrunk considerably. Even if it shoots decent it won't hurt to slug them, and the barrel, to see where you stand. Enjoy the new toy.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have two. Never heard that they were inaccurate. Just they could be made more accurate for hard cast. Throats were right on mine until I reamed them. Enjoy your fine new sidearm.

Yep throats are .4505. Gonna have to find a reamer. I only shoot lead and since I'm just getting into the 45 I still need to buy dies, bullet molds and sizers, maybe I should have stuck to the 44.

I had my buddy in NC jig bore mine within .00005
Didn't need to go that close but it is cool that we could.

They are also concentric within .0002 on the center pin circle. We cleaned that up quite a bit.

My 7.5" Bisley shoots 2" at 100 and my short Blackhawk shoots way better than I can.

Just a note we did this same exercise with a 44 Bisley and the best we could get it to do was 4" or so at 100

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.
