Recently got into handgun hunting 2 years ago and have a 6" gp100. I've been using federal 180gr JHP power shok. I can't use FMJs or HCGC as far as I know for deer in WI so was wondering what you guys use or would use in a 357. I'm confident I can put the round where it needs to be at 50 yards which would be my max. Just curious haven't earned the real shot yet. Thanks

I shoot the 158 Hornady XTP in my 357, in front of 17.5 grains of lil gun.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I'm fairly new to the 357 mag, but so far 180 grainers have served me well from the 357.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

2zbz,
I've used the 140 gr Barnes up to 180gr XTP's , and several different 158 JHP's in between.
Put the bullet in the right spot and prepare your freezer!

I used a Barnes 140 gr factory load to take a mature doe on opening day of gun season here in North Carolina. It was a 28 yard broadside shoot. The bullet hit her high in the shoulder and broke her back. She dropped right there.

I use the older sierra 140 gr. hollow cavity over 19.5 gr. of H110-this is from the older speer manual #11,...I'm almost out of these after 20 years so I've bought some 158 gr. Hornady X.T.P.'s to try out.

Any experience with 180g WFNGC as available from Cast Performance? I have a box on the shelf and have been wanting to give them a try....suggestions on loads? The likely candidate would be a stainless steel Ruger Security-Six with 6" barrel. Thanks!
