I have been planning on testing the 300 MP powder for a while now, and I just have not taken the time. Just wondering if anyone on here has been playing with it in 357, 41, 44, 45/454, or 480 Ruger.
Loading data for cast is a little thin. Infact all loading data for the 300 MP is a little thin.
I found a 480 Ruger load for a 400 grain Jacketed bullet using 24.0 grains. That should be safe with a Cast 375 grain WFP-UC bullet. I was figuring on probably starting below that a couple grains and working up.
Lets hear from some who have worked with it.
Bob
That should be in the ball

Heck, I've never even heard of that powder. Who makes it?

MP 300 is made by Allient Powders.. Same people who make 2400 Bullseye Unique. lt seems its a great powder for 410 shot shells as well as magnum pistol cartridges...l have not personally loaded any ctgs with it..l see it gets good reviews on gun forums. lf l see some l will definitely get a pound to try

That is Power Pro 300 MP, not Power Pistol, correct? Two different powders.

Correct Whitworth. 300-MP
Handloader October 2011, Volume 46, Number 5, Issue No. 274 Page 20 had the best write up I have seen on this powder. Brian Pearce worked up data for some loads in 327 Fed, 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, and the 454 Casull. In his testing he was getting some very good velocity numbers. Reportedly the 300 MP works best in longer barrel magnums. My 9.5 Inch 480 Ruger Super RedHawk has the long barrel to burn it in. Unfortunately he did not work with the 480 Ruger in his testing.

Bob, I have been using Power Pistol in the .480 quite extensively this year and it is proving to be a great powder for the caliber. I am interested in hearing how you do with the 300 MP.

I have shot a number of pounds of 300MP I found it to be similar to H110/296,just a little bit slower, its my go to powder in my 44 carbine. I have tried in some other 44 pistols, but I achieved better velocity with 296. I did find it preferred a magnum primer over what is recommended.

Whitworth Would you pass along some of your Power Pistol Loading Data.
I have a pound or two of Power Pistol on hand that I have played with a little in 38 Special.
I have been loading the 480 Ruger so far with H110, AA#9, and Lil Gun. All have been very good powders in the 480. I have 3 molds, the Lee 325, and Lee 400. The latest one is a custom Mountain Mold casting a 375 grain Gas Check bullet with a single grease groove. I see the 375 being my go to bullet in the future.
My current 9.5 Inch SRH has not had a jacketed bullet shot through it since being test fired at the factory.
