Well I got my first deer of the year with my Encore 7-08 this evening. It was a 120 pound doe at 100 yards. Pulled the shot a little and she went about 100 yards but we did find her. This is the second deer I've harvested with a pistol and looking forward to more. Hopefully the next will be a buck.

Good show!

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Excellent! Leave the long guns at home from here on out and for sure that next buck will fall to the handgun.

I used the 140 Nosler Acubonds with 40 grains of Varget powder. Sighted it in on Wednesday and at 100 yards had 2 of the 3 shots touching.

Way to go...what is your 7mm-08 chambered in T/C or a custom barrel...mine is chambered in a T/C barrel.

Awesome Thad, I'm hoping to have a first this year as well. The only thing different is the load. I use 39 gr of H4895 with a 140 gr Speer gameking bullet.

Loving the 7-08. Nice man

Under-rated bullet right there. I suppose because it doesn't have a pretty colored tip or cost $3/bullet but I've taken many critters with it.

The barrel is a TC barrel. I just need the weather to cooperate down here. It's nice weather just not der hunting weather. Lows in the mid 50's and highs in the mid 70's. Not exactly prime hunting weather!
