 .480 WITH 300MP

I have been working with the .480 and 300MP and it is promising. Just got a batch of 412gr WFN hunter supply bullets. 22grs of 300MP looks like the limit with this bullet. I will get them chronied this weekend. Using the CPB 375gr 24grs seems to be the magic load. I used it on the two deer and it dumped them like a bad habit. More to come. reflex264

I've considered the .475/.480 but can't decide between it and the .454/.45. I reload so over the counter ammo isn't a factor.
Push me over the edge, one way or another.

I like them all so hard to push! I have taken tons of critters with hot .45 Colt loads. The .480 is pretty new to me. So far I am impressed. We played sided by side with a .475 and a .480. If the .480 has a 7.5" barrel and the .475 has a 5.5" barrel the differnce is to small to tell. The .480 has no problem launching 400gr bullets nearly 1300fps. The .454 shoots flatter but the .480 seems to hit harder. Not helping much am I?

Does 300 MP give any performance advantages over 296? Unless they've changed the 300MP since I tried it - it burns fairly dirty.

I think they have changed it because it seems petty clean now. Still hard to beat 296/110. It does seem to hold a slight performance edge in some situations. reflex264
