I will be picking up a raging bull in 454 casull in a few weeks. It already has a scope mount and burris scope on it. I'm not a fan of scopes on handguns and want to put either the burris fastfire 3 or an ultra dot on it. Just wondering if the burris will hold up? Thanks.

In small reflex sights I would go Leupold or Trijicon. There are a number of guys here using the ultra-dot.

I have a couple of Burris Fastfire 2s and have been happy with them. One on a 45 Colt Ruger Bisley Hunter and one on a 45 Colt model 92 Rossi. I shoot heavy loads in both. The Burris has provision to lock the settings.

Not sure my financial advisor, aka my lovely wife, will let me spend enough for the leupold or trijicon just yet. Would love to hear from a anyone who may have or tried the fastfire on the 454 class of gun.

I have shot 300 gr loads at 1200 fps in my 45 Colt Ruger. The Fastfire 2 is somewhat less money than the 3 and IMO will do everything that is necessary.

I have the Fastfire 3 on my SRH 454. It has held up so far. Probably a thousand or so mild loads (255gr at 1200fps) and about 300-400 heavier loads (300gr at 1400fps). I posted some comments a couple of months ago about the pros & cons of the Fastfire vs the JPoint)

Thanks for the replies so far. Will probably end up going with a fastfire unless I can see talk the wife into letting me get a trijicon.

I have a Jpoint also, but prefer my Fastfires because of locking feature and having a switch to turn off in case I lose the cover.

I guess I didn't realize the leupold delta point was that close to the burris price. Looking hard at the delta reticle. Like the idea of the fine point for accuracy. Going to have to find some to play with now.

I have the ff3 on a 4 5/8 Blackhawk that has had about 500 hot loads through it so far. No problems.

I have a JPoint on my .475 and a FastFire 3 on my .454 they both have good features but probably leaning to the Fastfire. The price is for either is about the same and ok with my financial advisor!
