Illinois just had its last gun season. It used to be a handgun only season but now you can use shotguns and muzzleloaders.

I keep on the tradition by only using a hand gun. It’s “doe only “ for most of the state, but they allow buck harvests in a few CWD counties.

Well, I hunt in one of those counties. I had a 55 yd shot at a doe on Sat night. I put a 240 gr A-Frame right thru the heart. Sunday I had some bucks moving thru the woods at 65 yards, another will placed A-Frame did the job. It was action packed weekend, I took 3 deer with the Smith this year.

Nice work! That A-Frame is a bad boy in the handguns!

Outstanding work. Very nice deer.

What scope are you using and what was your shooting position/platform?

Zee, It's a Leupold VX 2.5x8, I hunted 2 stands, both are 2 man ladder stands with solid shooting rails. The doe jumped higher than she ran, the buck was double lunged, maybe 20 yds.

Awesome weekend. Very nice buck. Congratulations. I have an almost identical 629 that is my favorite woods rig. Its the best balanced offhand gun / scope setup I have.
