Hello, I'm mostly a revolver guy but I got a G2 Contender stainless. Ordered an MGM 11" barrel in 357 Max. Ordered one hundred pcs of brass online and tonight I got 150 more pcs of brass at local shop. Not sure on optics yet but thinking of an electronic type. Oh also got some H110 powder.
I'd appreciate any advice from Max shooters here.

Load up and enjoy it!! Lots of versatility with that caliber, but I wonder if the very light (110-125's) bullets still vaporize out of the muzzle due to the pressure?  either way a 170-180 JHP will be devastating on deer!

I love the Max. I am loading a 158 FP-XTP in mine right now with H110 and a Fed SR primer. Wanna try some 180 XTP's if and when Hornady gets to makin' 'em again. The Max really suits the velocity range of both of those bullets. I'd stay away from the 158 HP-XTP as the velocity will likely be too fast. I found some 180 SSP's that I'd like to try but haven't found a seater plug for my RCBS dies that will work with the pointy bullet.

Check Wideners and see if they still have the 180 partitions in stock on closeout. If so, buy as much as you can. Amazing accuracy

Be sure they add enough free bore to shoot the biger rifle bullets.
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

If you have the cash the 180gr. swift A frame is a real charmer in the mad max. Took 3 deer using it this past fall in the Dan Wesson revolver. Also just purchased a 10'' SSK Contender barrel in this caliber and will be working up loads for it soon. I believe Hawk bullets also offers some 170 and 180gr. bullets but I have yet to try them myself. The 357 max. is great round for deer sized game and it should be more popular than it is.

Congrat"s on the new rig,Hornady bullet #3505, 180 gr.I use Lil gun powder, with the 200 gr. FTX bullet I use H-110, It"s a great deer round.

Thanks. I have a 10" MGM 357 max and I'm shooting 180 gr XTP and Nosler Partition bullets. 4227 gave better accuracy than 296 in my barrel. I'm getting 1700 fps out of the load iirc... Have fun with the new toy!!!
