I had the Redhawk in hand ready to do some defensive shooting. Greg the hound man did not have a gun so it would have fell upon me to plug this thing if needed. \

I have found that when it's cool, there is more movement. Heat drives them to lay up and wallow.

Keep the wind in your face while stalking. A pigs nose is one of the best in the wild.

I've never hunted bear (it is on my bucket list) so I can't say for sure. They can smell bugs, worms, roots, etc through the dirt. Therefore the rooting. Their eyesight is bad. If you work the wind and keep quiet you can walk pretty close to them.

I only ever got one with my 45-70 while hunting down in Tennessee however
, I did date a few along time ago in school
....but I never took one home!!

On a lighter note, the hard cast 350 grainer meant bang-flop for Mr. Piggy. Some of friends were enamored with making some look like porcupines with their arrows;
the dang things wouldn't hold still for them. Long story short, I took one with the 45-70, friend took his with a 44 mag....Mr. Archer, who kept sticking his with non-fatal arrows tried using my 45-70, After he missed twice with it, he finally snuck up behind a tree with his bow and shot it from about 10' away. It finally died. Pigs are not tough to kill if you hit them right.
