Our friend Mark Hampton asked me to post these photos from his recent trip to CAR.

Incredible Mark! I can't wait to hear more details about your hunt!

Thanks Darrell! Just returned from a tough hunt in CAR. Managed to take giant forest hog, Central African Savannah buffalo, Harnessed bushbuck, and western bush duiker. Hunting is best described as excessive walking in excessive heat. Used a FA in .44 Mag. with Buffalo Bore 305 gr. ammo; and 375 JDJ. Sudanese poachers have decimated the elephant population and are doing a pretty good job hammering other game.

Do you have a picture of the duiker?

Fantastic job, Mark! Getting those big critters with the 44 bumps the cool factor a little higher, also. That shows what the right bullet, in the right place, will do.

Thanks for the kind words. Gary, I hunted with Central African Wildlife Adventures. The area will be closed next year due to so many problems with cattle (filtering down from Sudan) and poaching. It's a real shame.

Beautiful Savannah buffalo and Giant Forest Hog, Mark! Finding both is a real feat. I've been wondering how you did and when you'd get back. Might be the first sport handgunned Harnessed Bush Buck and GF Hog. Congratulations to you.

Central African Republic

CAR = Carolina on all of the box scores though. You mean you don't have those critters in the Lowcountry, Badubet?

Great job Mark! And I love the fact that you got it done with a couple of classic cartridges rather than the latest super-size rounds.

Thanks for all the kind words. Hunting wild Africa is a real experience -- but quite saddening to see the negative effect serious poaching has on wildlife populations.

Fantastic trophies Mark. Awesome that you got them with a 44 revolver. What is your buffalo load for the 44?

billa, I was shooting Buffalo Bore's 305 gr. offering. And I'm still using your ammo wrist bands after all these years! Thanks
