About a month ago I paid a visit to my local friendly gun shop/hardware store to see if they had anything new. Well, they had a 460 S&W. When I walked in the fellow behind the counter said "Your gun is in", very perceptive fellow indeed. Anyway I have been wanting to get rid of my snubby 500 Smith because the accuracy is not what I anticipated. Besides I have my Performance Center 500 Smith and I really don't need two 500's. They take trade-ins at the shop so the morning after I had a 460 Smith in my stable. My RCBS shell holder that I use for my .454 is too small for the .460 even though Midway says it fits. I ordered a shell holder #46 directly from Hornady and it arrived last week. I was going to wait until after hunting season to dink around with the .460 but I just could not wait. My girlfriend had me all figured out as she told me if the shell holder came in it was a done deal. I am developing loads now. Today was break in day. I fired 50 rounds using Hodgdon Lil' Gun and 300g Hornady XTP's and 300g Sierra's. The barrel seemed to break in sooner than most. I think that this sucker is going to be the most accurate revolver that I have owned so far hands down. What a trigger that Smith has .

COOL!! Keep us posted. If you have a chrony I'd be interested to see what kind of velocity you are getting.

I got some brass a while back for the 460. I was making up some dummy rounds and ran into the shell holder problem also. I have the set of Lee shell holders and the 45 colt one was to small. I just tried the csae in ones that looked close til I found a good match.

I was shooting a buddies 460 yesterday. Using H4227 and 300gr Hornady bullets we was shooting a ragged hole @ 50yds with a 3x12 Burris on top. I will also applaud S&W on a fine factory trigger on this gun. I asked if he had worked on his trigger and he said no. He also has a 2nd 460 that he just shoots cast bullets with, but it won't shoot as well as the 1st.
