Found a box of long forgotten about 210 gr. Winchester Silvertip ammo for a .44 Magnum in the "ammo stash" recently. Is this load OK for deer? IIRC it was designed for self defense and may be to "frangible" for deer?? Any other uses? May as well shoot them up, but seems kinda pricy for a "target load".

Those loads were pretty anemic from my experience and did not produce the best results. If you only have one box I would use them for practice rounds personally.

I helped a fellow track a deer he wounded with one these years ago. The penetration was very shallow and we had to finish the deer with a different gun.

Winchester'so whole Silvertip line needs updating. I'very seen way too many wounded animals slip away after a good solid hit. Good only for paper punching IMO.
My use of them has been in other calibers, but I've never found them to penetrate as much as I'd like, they opened up preeetty fast. Although I know people who hunt with them, there are far better options.
