I was looking at new options for my Ruger RH in 44 mag 7.5 optics and possible options for a Ruger SBH Bisley hunter in the same caliber.

I currently have a Leupold 2x scope on it which works really well but have recently been looking at red dot options....

After some research I've found many good reviews on the Ultra Dot Red dots. Particularly the Match Dot II for it 2MOA capabilities.

Or is the standard Ultra dot with the 4moa more sufficient?

Has anyone used theses red dot on magnum caliber handguns for hunting applications and if so what results?

I've got the Match Dot II on my .44 mag SRH, I like the 2 MOA feature and works quite well even for my old eyes out to 100 yards. You will have to get an extended mount as it requires a wider space than the standard rings.

I have a 30MM Ultradot and the Matchdot II.I think either will work for you but, with the matchdot you have the option to change reticle designs to match your liking.

Not sure if it's more sufficient, but it is sufficient. And, it will fit within the standard Ruger ring spacing.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Sounds good.... I think I will try the Ultra Dot being that I have a set of 30mm High rings for my RH.

Anyone looking for a good used Leupold 2x... I have it up for sale in the classifieds

Much Thanks

Dave

I really like the MatchDot on my .480 but I don't know what your options are as far as extension rings. The SRH uses reversed, unequal height rifle rings but the guns that use barrel mounts use equal height rings.

I ended up going with the Ultra Dot. I had high 30mm Ruger rings. Im guestimating that it should work....

Seems like was I was reading was that most who use the Matchdot end up keeping the setting on 4MOA and others say that when Its at 2MOA when the brightness is turned up it becomes close to the 4MOA because of bursting.

I should have the Ultra Dot in by the end of the week and my Ruger SBH back from the gun smith by then also.
