I know there's no "one size fits all" for this, but need some opinions from the people with more experience than myself.
Would the 325 gr hard cast make a decent "all around load" for the .454 Casull. Would be used for deer and hopefully black bear sometime in the near future.

My one size fits all load is a 300 LFNGC with 28 gr. of 296 or H110 and a mag primer. I don't see any reason you can't make the 325 gr work but use a LFN or WFN.

265 or 300 gr. Swift HPs. Built like Nosler Partitions, very large hollow cavity causing a lot of tissue damage. The best of expansion and penetration in a single handgun bullet.

I'm with dhom, that's the exact load I use. When I don't have a chance to load I use Buffalo Bore's .45 COLT load of a .325 gr LFNGC for 1300 fps out of my 5.5" barrel.

Hodgdon lists 25.2 of 296 or H110 to start and end with 26.0 grs. of either with a 325 gr. LFNGC.

I was testing a lot of different 300 grs bullets and conclusion is that Hornady 300 grs XTP Mag have best expansion/penetration ratio. It is just a bit tough construction for smaller game but this is minimal price I am ready to pay for bullet which works great on big game.
I also have LBT 325grs WFN GC molds but I think that hard cast bullets are good but with more compromises which needs to be made

I use wvhitmans 265 load and she's deadly. Also super accurate out of my FA guns.

Anyone have loads for the .454 using HS6 powder and 300 gr bullets?
