Jesus, what caliber was that?

I have no idea. I'm thinking one of the Africian Biggame calibers. It almost looks like a 470 or 500 nitro. Like I said before, this is one lucky guy. That gun barely grazed his head. It could have easily killed him.

I can't believe anyone would even attempt to pull the trigger on a gun like this. There is no way, any human could handle recoil like this.

I guess the moral is just because you can make a 10 elephant caliber Encore, doesn't mean you should.

Unless you're Whitworth. . . .

I don't think Whitworth would even sign up for this one. 😉

Wonder what I'd have to pay this guy to shoot it again....

I'm bettin it wouldn't take much. He obviously doesn't think things through very well.

Natural selection. Nature has to find a way to take out the stupid ones before they reproduce.

Does anyone know the rest of the story? What caliber? Who made this gun? I think there are seasoned hand gunners that could handle this gun. I have seen green horns do this with a RSB 44. From the looks of this guy I suspect his hand may have been "lubricated" with alcohol! I lean in the direction of impaired, inexperienced and not too bright instead of crediting the gun with so much power that it's unshootable! LOL......

In an effort to take this in a new direction, has anyone here shot something like this? The biggest I have shot is Contender platform 12" unported with iron sight 45-70/500 grain heavy load. Not my gun. Probably a frame stretcher. Muzzle rise over 90 degrees. Very violent.

My 14" unported, iron sight Contender 358JDJ with full load 250s also gives a 90 degree muzzle flip. Its sharper than the 45/70 but not as heavy pushback.

The weight of a scope/ mount really holds a big gun down.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

The biggest handgun I've shot is my .50 Alaskan. Not quite in this league, but 525s at 1,600 aren't very pleasant in my humble opinion but this guy's technique is questionable at best.

It didn't appear from the video that he was even remotely prepared for the recoil. Almost as if his grip on the gun was intentionally light.

ARI: Alcohol Related Incident.....probably

I have encore pistols in .470 NE, .416 Rem, and .458 Lott. The first two aren't so bad, but the Lott makes me question my sanity. However, none have gotten away from me like that guy so either he's lacking experience, had a little too much too drink, or more likely both...
