Today I was able to make my first successful kill with my .223 Rem T/C Contender! It was an offhand shot at around 40 yds. on a Central PA groundhog. Although it was not my first handgun kill it was the first one with a Contender. The best part of the whole experience was that I was able to stand beside my Father the whole time. A long time handgun hunter and frequent contributor on this site (billa), my Dad has been a huge supporter and inspiration to me. He was and is always willing to take the time to teach me the proper handgun safety and technique needed to be the best I can be. It is because of my Dad that I hope to carry on the family tradition that he started of handgun shooting sports and hunting to my son. Thanks Dad!

As in "handgun", as it should be ;-) Well done!
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have owned several 223 barrels over the years and they are a blast. I just got a 14" Wed and shot it yesterday...I like it. I had a 14 about 25yrs ago, sold it and have missed it ever since. I look forward to shooting this newly acquired one, a lot.

Nice! I have a 14" .223 and 10" .22 Hornet barrels for my T/C and I'd love to get out for some groundhogs this year!
