Well I went to my gun shop to buy some reloading stuff and I had some extra money to spend, so I got to looking at revolvers and found a ruger super Blackhawk in excellent condition in 44 mag that caught my eye. I was waiting on one of the guys to show it to me when I spotted a used encore in 270 with a tc scope and 12" barrel for 500.00 they were asking 450.00 for the Blackhawk which has only had 1 cylinder fired through it and I asked him what was the bottom dollar for the pair and he said 900.00 so I pulled out my cash and offered him 850 out the door and he thought about it for a minute and said yea what the heck! so I paid him and bought some more bullets and powder. I already went and shot both of them and the 270 doesn't have near the recoil I was expecting. I actually think the 44 has more felt recoil, anyways both guns shoot great. just wanted to see what y'all thought about it.

well, first off, are you happy with what you bought? Could you go out and buy it elsewhere for less today? Are you still happy with your purchase?

Then, yes, you got a good deal.

As for this specific deal, I'd say yes. I was happy to spend only 400 for my t/c in .270 and 425 for my super Blackhawk, and those were both more than 5 years ago, and I thought I got a good deal on them.

As for these gun? I like both of them. Blue steel and wood always rocks my world. .44 mag anything makes me happy, and I happen to think that the .270 is just about perfect for the 'rifle round in a hand gun' round. I have a 3/8th inch thick 2.5x2.5 piece of milled steel that lives in the bed of my pickup. It has a hole just blasted right thru it. The steel is splattered out on both sides. It looks like one of the stills of a drop of water hitting water. But it is splashed out on both sides. You can just see that the steel was liquid at room temperature when this bullet went thru. I shot it at 25 yards and ran down to it and immediately touched it. It was cool, not warm at all. It didn't get that hot then cool down that quick.

They say the .270 is good for thin skinned animals. My experience is that as long as the skin is less that 3/8 milled steel, you should get fud in the freezer.

I found a .454 barrel for it for $125 too. What's not to love?

Enjoy your new toys,
Dogsbreath

Thanks fellas I thought that seemed like a pretty good deal, the scope on the encore is done for I loaded up 20 light loads to sight in and at didn't hit the cardboard backstop (4'x4') so I looked down the bore and tried moving the crosshairs and they wouldn't move, I am planning on buying a new scope anyways. And I am with you dogbreath I love classic blued with wood grips I just like it so much better than synthetic or stainless

Also.....a weaver base with about 3 leupold rifleman rings would give a long scope more support.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I'd love to find a deal like that.

Sounds like a good deal to me. It's a SHAME about that scope though. Kind'a throws a wet rag on the deal. Good Luck.

Send it back to T/C and see if they will replace it.

I would love to have the 270 encore. I have been a fan of that caliber for 50 years now and have been looking for a Blackhawk chambered in the 44 as well. You did good. I would send the scope back to T/C. And I would also agree with others that on a weaver base in that caliber it would be a good idea to add another ring. That does not have anything to do with the adjustment problem with the scope but would help with no movement of the scope. Sweet deal. Enjoy your new toys.

Forgot to add I love the blue and wood myself. Nothing wrong with being a traditionalist.
