I saw that. I wonder how well the ACP's will shoot from the longer Colt chamber. I get real good accuracy with the ACP cylinder in my Bisley, but it is chambered specifically for them. Nice lookin' piece.

Rod, too.

Given the fact that the .45 Colt case is a larger diameter .471" than the .45 a.c.p..467", will the a.c.p.s not rupture? When placing a.c.p. cases into the chambers of my S&W M25-13 .45 Colt Mountain Gun, there is slop around the brass.

I emailed Ruger and this was the reply: US SAAMI 45acp may swell in the chamber, if this is reloaded ammo the cases may split. We do not recommend using reloading ammo in any of our firearms.. Ruger will not be responsible for the operation of or damage to your firearm caused by reloaded ammunition, or ammunition that is not manufactured to SAAMI (US) or CIP (European) Standards.
This will definitely not be a gun for my collection.

Ya, that pretty much kills it for me as well.

They want way too much for that revolver. IMO $1000.00+ is way too pricey.

As I have a 45acp revolver, and have been looking at this revolver.

So far we only have MSRP prices on all of the internet posts I have seen. You can certainly find shops and on-line sources with msrp, but eventually a lower street price should shake out.

Folks have been having 45 Colt revolvers converted to use 45acp with moon clips for a lot of years now. I have never heard of a report of 45acp cases splitting or otherwise creating an unsafe condition.

The accuracy reported of these converted revolvers seems to tend towards the acp accuracy being not great, but not horrific. As this site tends to more on the accuracy side of things for hunting, if one wishes a 45acp revolver that is more likely to be a tack driver, a dedicated revolver or switch cylinder type might be a better choice.

I am seriously looking at this, but I want to confirm whether or not the S&W moon clips would work in the Ruger. I know clips are cheap, but I have a bucket load already, and adding a different size is not really appealing to me. But the flip side is that I do also shoot 45 Super and Rowland, and the Ruger is certainly much more capable in this respect, than my Smith.

Definitely watching this, but not reaching for my wallet, yet.

I like this new Redhawk. I have 2 Blackhawk convertibles,357mag/9mm
& a 45colt/45cap. I like the versatility of more than one caliber.
It now will be a more versatile packing pistol. Just another option
to keep your gun in ammo. I think after all is said and done you will find this gun @ $850 or so retail. I like the 4" & I like the
Redhawk better than the Super,so I guess I have to fall off the
Wagon and buy one. And so it goes!

S&W has had 45acp revolvers for a long time.I believe it is a model 25 and 625 for stainless steel.
